Amanda Wilson
2006

Amanda Wilson has been singing as long as she could talk. Performing at venues from informal family get-togethers to beauty contests, she fell in love with music before she knew what hit her. It was a part of her heritage, growing up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where folk music is prevalent and she in particular was brought up singing in church. At the age of five, she was performing skits and singing in beauty contests. By 13, having experience in both winning and losing junior talent contests, she was receiving requests to bring her talents and unique style to events and private parties. She had developed into quite the entertainer, and was falling deeper in love with every note.
It was soon that she met manager Buddy Carpenter, who serves as a major energy source behind Wilson’s career. The partnership grew through the recording of three independent CDs, pitching to numerous labels, a four month radio tour, a concert tour with Amanda and “The Old Hat Band”, as well as many other conventions and shows in the Southeastern US. Amanda was able to maintain what was going on in her career along with a high school GPA above a 4.0.
After graduation, she moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University’s School of Music Business. Before the end of the first semester, she had signed her first recording contract with DreamWorks Nashville. She was able to collaborate with numerous writers and producers and establish solid relationships. Wilson has appeared on Tennessee Mornings with Charlie Chase, in “America the Beautiful,” by various artists, participated in TJ Martell celebrity fund raising events, and spent several hours on the air with WSM’s Matthew Gillin. She opted out of her deal in July of 2003, but assures her appreciation for every opportunity and that “It ain’t over yet”.
She sees herself like any other small town girl with big dreams, but her fans will beg to differ. She has the power to deliver emotion through a song like no other. Her voice has been described as 'liquid velvet', 'commanding', and 'haunting'. She's as country as cornbread, and she insists on keeping the accent. She's real, down to earth, and approachable. You'll love her!
