Universal Music are proud to announce an outstanding album collection of classic Irish hits from Brendan Bowyer which spans the 40 year career of one of Ireland's favourite stars. This will be supported by a nationwide tour later this year (see below) where Brendan will be backed by musicians who will be instantly recognisable from their regular performances with Van Morrison. The first single and title track of the album is a stunning rendition of Paul Brady's 'Follow On'.

"I hope this album finally proves there's far more to me than the fact that I recorded The Hucklebuck " says Brendan Bowyer, laughing. Of course he's proud of his association with one of the best remembered showband hits in history but, as he says, "that was a long time ago!" And he's right.

Back in 1965 Brendan Bowyer was just a young man, "Ireland's answer to Elvis" as he was called. As lead singer with the Royal Showband, the Carl Allen Award winning act for the most outstanding modern dance Band in Great Britain were, at one point, supported by none other than the Beatles. The Royal Showband also were the first Irish pop act to break Vegas, where Brendan, still appears.

Yet at the height of his recording career it was the era of singles, not albums. As such, Bowyer has had to wait more than forty years to get his hands on a collection of songs that more than matches his legendary status in Irish pop. Fittingly enough, the album itself is a retrospective of forty years of classic Irish songwriting. And even includes Bowyer's version of I Don't Like Mondays', a song originally composed by Bob Geldof, one of Ireland's most outspoken critics of the entire showband era. "I forgive him!" laughs Brendan.
