BIOGRAPHY

Ali Wright first started playing the guitar when she was 9 years old and quickly developed an enthusiasm for writing songs.

In the 1980's she performed in bars and folk clubs in and around Derby, where she grew up.

In 1999, she received a BEd. Honours in Combined Arts and worked as a Primary School Teacher. Her love of music never left her and in 2002, she left full-time teaching to concentrate on becoming a singer/songwriter.

Ali has an eclectic taste in music, but her main source of inspiration comes from her experiences from the up's and downs of love and life. She plays acoustic guitar with a finger picking style, she also plays electric rhythm guitar in her rock band. Ali's songs are written from the heart and her soulful lyrics are delivered with warmth and passion.

"The closest place to heaven" demonstrates Ali's versatility as a singer/songwriter. As the title track suggests, "The closest place to heaven" is a beautiful love song. To summarise just a few of the other tracks: "Forever" is intimate and haunting, "All The Things You Do" is catchy and uplifting, "Slow train" drives the rock 'n' roll blues and "I want to see you" is just breathtaking.

On this album, Ali's acoustic guitar is accompanied by a host of other instruments played by an accomplished musician, by the name of Paul Dunn.
