After a year of musical adventures, Canada's only classical accordion and clarinet duo, Acclarion, has released their self-titled debut album. David and Becky, who were recently engaged to be married have worked diligently in assembling the musical selections that will be featured on the album.

The decision to produce the album was fueled by enthusiastic listeners who have supported Acclarion since it's debut last year. Becky and David felt that recording their CD would also allow them to reach a larger audience. They are particularly interested in reaching out to those individuals who may not normally listen to classical music. "We feel that our music will at once be entertaining and enjoyable to those who may not have the patience or desire to sit down to a forty-minute symphony," states Becky. "All of the selections that will appear on our CD have the sophistication of classical music, with the brevity and catchiness of pop tunes."

Unlike many classical ensembles that record only the works of great masters from centuries gone by, Acclarion wants to introduce new works which compliment the classics already part of their repertoire. To that end, David has composed three works especially for this album.

Klezmerized is a high-energy piece which blends the sounds of Classical, Klezmer, and Jazz into a nifty little package. Kenortango was inspired by Becky and David's trip to Kenora, Ontario (east of Winnipeg), where he proposed to her on a frozen lake under the stars. It is a smooth as silk tango with clever interweaving parts and technical brilliance. Finally, Flight of Fancy (which will first be heard by audiences on the recording) mixes new age harmonies, with minimalist motives, and a recurring Spanish-influenced theme.

David says, "We're also happy to record a piece by internationally renowed composer, Charles Cozens. His Marionnette Fandangle conjures up images of a lively puppet dancing to the exotic beats of a Spanish fandango."

Walter Buczynski's Fast Fingers will also be recorded for the first time. This high-energy piece blends flashes of technical wizardry with wailing bluesy improv. Think of it as Flight of the Bumblebee meets Louis Armstrong.

Equally inviting are the new arrangements of popular classics. If classical is your style, wait until you hear Handel's Harmonious Blacksmith performed on accordion and bass clarinet! For movie lovers, That's Amore, the popular piece that appeared in Moonstruck, see new life in this unique arrangement. Acclarion even offers up a unique Cabaret-inspired piece by Marius Constant.
To help bring this great music to the loyal listeners, Acclarion have chosen Inception Sound Studios as their recording venue. Chad Irshick and Michael Haas are two engineers that have worked with some of the best in the music industry, including Loreena McKennitt, Natalie McMaster, Rita McNeil, Quartango, and many others. David and Becky are looking forward to working with them to create a sound that is distinctly "Acclarion!"

When asked how best to sum up their music and this CD project, Becky and David both looked at each other, before smiling back at me and saying, "It's music to tickle your ears!" Check out this unique musical offering now at CD Baby.com.
