"BOT BOX" is ONE L's second full length release on RES FREQ Recordings and the followup to his "Das Nonstop-Programm" album.
OneL's style has evolved on "BOT BOX" to be a bit more on the agressive side, but with the same tounge-in-cheek sensibility as in the past. The tracks on "BOT BOX" range from DJ friendly stompers, to songs with memorable vocal hooks that would be at home on any forward thinking radio station, to the odd instrumental lullaby.
While "Das Nonstop-Programm" can be seen as a sort of homage to the 80's electrofunk era at times, "BOT BOX" comes into its own and lets the music be whatever it wants to be.
Of course, there are still many similarities between the latest "BOT BOX" and the previous "Das Nonstop-Programm." "BOT BOX" is without doubt a "1L" album in style, but in phylosophy "1L" has freed himself and his music of the self imposed restrictions he placed on himself in the production of "Das Nonstop-Programm" and allows the music to truly take on a life of its own.
This time ONE L takes on another cover song. "KISS's" 1976 song "Do You Love Me" has been given the characteristic treatment ONE L has become known for.
ONE L also includes more vocal orientated tracks on "BOT BOX" from the full vocal songs like "Karate (All Over Your Body)", "Do You Love Me", "Electric Superstar" and "Superstar Electrique" (the latter of which has alrerady been used as the opening music to VH-1's "Resurrection Weekend") to the use of repeatative infectuous vocal hooks on tracks like "Physical(I12B)" and "That's How I Rockit."
"BOT BOX" covers a wide pallette but definitely feels like one great cohesive album.
