This album is a fine overview of Bowie's oeuvre, eschewing obvious tunes for more obscure and illuminating selections (e.g. Ryan McWhorter covers 'Abdulmajid').
The album also works as a testament to the diversity of Athens' music scene, containing everything from Ceiling Fan's straight-forward rocking take on 'Hang Onto Yourself' to Mime's jungle transformation of 'John, I'm Only Dancing.'
A labor of love...And the effort shows: most tribute albums sound half-assed and warmed over. Loving the Alien doesn't, which is a triumph in and of itself.
