Here's what some people are saying about Allison Sattinger!

Gliding on the very ethereal airs of a Greek goddess, Allison Sattinger makes her self-titled debut. A pond’s ripple away from a soulful gospel vocalist, and simultaneously conjuring the beatnik midpoint between complete apathy and elegiac zeal, she establishes herself above many more experienced singer-songwriters, at a remarkably young age. The tranquility of Joni Mitchell and the overwhelming organic emotion of Janis Joplin are hers, taken and remixed with experience entirely hers as well.

Encouraged by the likes of Q-Tip and Brian Jordan of Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Sattinger sings with a confidence and approachability reserved for performers twice her age. And her piano playing is nothing short of all of the above. Sattinger’s harmonies, instrumental and vocal, present a formidable challenge to any other musician attempting a release right now.

Unlike many self-released (and self-titled) CD's, this 7 track avoids self-indulgence and drabness. There's a conviction and confidence to these songs that comes with self-confidence in ones own talent and ability, the confidence itself blossoming into a polished debut, with an early musical maturity that will almost certainly grow.

Although Sattinger aspires to reach towards the serious end of the market, there's a delightful eccentricity to this eponymous debut mini album, filled with edgy idiom, performed somehwere along the lines of Eva Cassidy meets gospel-singer-turned-rock-chick.

Of all the CDs I've listened to recently, this one is a real stand out. I saw the guitar on the front and thought, 'oh god, if this is another Ani wanna-be I'm going to just give up this whole thing' but I'm happy to report that Allison Sattinger is not a wanna be of any kind.

"Where to begin..... Well, I believe I will start at the strongest point, the voice! Allison Sattinger has an incredibly strong voice, vocals laden with eloquent phrasing and power, that also approach with an amazing subtlety. Allison Sattinger has a voice that could calm the most erratic soul, and at times be able to invoke passion and desire into her listeners."
