Afraid No More is the third album from Holy Hip-Hop artist, A.S.G. Featuring hit single, "The Light" and "Spark It Up," Afraid No More is excellent for the young Christian that is excited and on fire for God. In addition to scripturally-based lyrics, A.S.G. also includes praise party music with blazin' beats any hip-hip head would appreciate.
A.S.G. means A Son of God. Kevin Johnson thought of this moniker when wondering what name would best describe him in the Kingdom. With his usual humble demeanor, ASG just considers himself a son of God with a mission to win souls. The difference between his mission and many others is that ASG is using the Hip-Hop culture to reach the many young people who tend to use Hip-Hop as their guidance. He is so committed to spreading the gospel among young people that he is the Minister of Music for the youth church at Restoring Life International Church in Baltimore, MD.
As a producer, lyricist, and musician, ASG infuses various styles into his music. He indicates that each album that he has done displays how much he has grown as a Christian and as a musician. His first album, "A Christ-Centered Project" focuses on faith and stepping out of the comfort zone of creating a gospel rap album that was not really accepted during that time. The second album, "Heart Condition", was a cry to God to "condition my heart so I may be like You." He asks for a closer relationship with God. The third album, "Afraid No More" is about eliminating fear and trusting God instead of men.
ASG has been ministering through rap for over five years. He has performed at many churches throughout the east coast and has performed at the major annual Holy Hip-Hop event, Rapfest, three times. As an innovator, he uses beats and sounds that are hyped and energetic. Within the next year, ASG anticipates the re-release of "Afraid No More" along with a tour promoting the album.
