Mambo Blue is a new eclectic band to the Nashville scene. We are a fusion of Latin Afro-Cuban rhythms, Funk and Jazz, performing mainly original compositions. The band was conceived in Jacksonville,Florida and soon became a favorite amongst musicians and lovers of this idiom. Before leaving Florida the band recorded their first Cd titled Con Fuego. I moved to Nashville in April of 2002,it took two years before i was able to establish Mambo Blue again. The new incarnation is composed of Nashville season veterans and young talent. Presently the band has completed their second CD called Angel Roman & Mambo Blue.
Here are some reviews, starting with an editors pick by a very popular on line magazine called Descarga.com.
" This adventurous Latin jazz debut by bassist Angel Roman is at it's best when funky and percussive, like on the hard-driving "Miami Blue" and "La Chazz." But it's all good, even the laid back tracks, which refuse to drift into soft cool FM radio jazz:
Highly recommended."

“young band successfully married complex rhythmic textures to spunky improvisation.â€
The Tennessee Jazz & Blues Society Inc.
“ Some bands working the Latin vein can handle the demands of maintaining the clave, but falter when things shift to a more straight-ahead focus. Others sound disjointed if songs aren't being done in 4/4 time...Mambo Blue succeeds in any and all musical situations.â€
