"Concrete Playground" is the 2006 self produced Adult Alternative / American Mainstream debut album of singer/songwriter BRIAN VAHAN. Mixed by the well known engineer Mark Needham( The Killer's, Green Day, Chris Isaak,Fleetwood Mac),"Concrete Playground" is sonically massive. The album in the true sense of the word is a collection of upbeat grooving/rocking alternative tracks and mainstream American songs.Brian's unique vocals are deep, moody, and passionate, revealing his truth and experience.
Growing up in the multi cultural Mission District of San
Francisco, Brian was exposed to a multitude of people and art. "Concrete Playground" was written over four years
after Brian played and recorded on various projects with many US artists over the previous eight years. As lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Brian's style, ability, and honesty pull the live audience in on the downbeat. Backed by a stellar group of players, the band has an intense, evolving energy which takes the audience on a journey.
I caught up with Brian at "the deluxe " a small, dark, club
on Haight St. in SF. By the second song, the Tues night local crowd had quieted down and was solely focused on his acoustic performance filled with sorrow, hope, and life.
